Event Description

This event will walk through all of the aspects of starting a sole proprietorship (個人事業 / kojin jigyou) in Japan. Learn the steps for how to register your company and how to manage finances to ensure proper tax filing.

This event will introduce all participants to the basics of starting a business in Japan. Guest sole proprietors in food and presentation design services industries will talk about the process of getting started and how to file annual taxes.

Guest Sole Proprietors

Lisa M. Hunsberger teaches full-time at a university in Fukuoka Prefecture. She has an MA in linguistics and has been teaching in the field of language and linguistics for 15 years.

Lisa has taught at universities in Jamaica, at a high school in France, and from kindergarten to university level in Japan.

Thanks to her regular use of technological aids and presentation software in her classes, Lisa has developed a unique skill-set that reignited her love of creative pursuits. Due to unending encouragement from colleagues, family, and friends, she turned her hobby into a business in December 2020 and made her ‘YaadPikni’ moniker her business name.

Lisa offers presentation design, video editing, English and Jamaican language services, along with other design services.

 

Sasha Lee Seals is a full-time baker and the owner of YummCupcakery Japan. Sasha has been in Japan for 16 years and has worked as a English teacher, executive recruiter, and started her own business 9 years ago. YummCupcakery has worked with Coca Cola, Segafredo, Ralph Lauren, Soul Food House, and many other restaurants. Sasha will walk you through all the licenses required to have a sole proprietorship in the food industry in Japan.
